A new era in toilet suite Water-Saving Technology
Caroma is passionate about water conservation and over the years has pioneered a number of significant breakthroughs. In 1982 Caroma introduced the first, truly effective, two button dual flush cistern, followed in 1993 by the 6/3L dual flush cistern, the first to achieve a Water Services Association of Australia 3A rating. Previously unavailable anywhere in the world, this innovation created the potential to reduce water usage by up to 59% compared with the traditional 11 litre single flush cistern. With dual flush 6/3L toilets now available for over a decade, it’s time to step up another gear.
Introducing Caroma Smartflush® water-saving technology.

After more than 5 years of intensive testing, research and development, Caroma are proud to introduce Australia’s first 4.5/3L dual flush toilet suite system reducing water use to 4.5 litres for a full flush. All Caroma Smartflush® toilet suites achieve a leading 4 star WELS rating. Using our unique Matched Performance™ approach, we have taken this 4 star water-efficiency rating a step further. By engineering the cistern, pan and trap to work together as an optimised unit, we have been able to maintain the current standard requirements for full flushing, cleansing and draining power, while using significantly less water.
Because Caroma Smartflush® technology doesn’t sacrifice performance, you save water and trim your water bills (by using less water for each full flush) without even noticing the difference. And of course, you get the beautiful designs, range, quality and reliability from the leaders in bathroom fixtures. Caroma Smartflush® has been extensively tested and proven to meet strict Australian standards.
Since 1941, Caroma has been dedicated to product design and innovation. This latest innovation has the potential to quietly revolutionise water consumption habits around the world at a time when it is urgently needed.
