PhotoVoltaic Rebate Scheme
Guidelines and Applications
On May 8th 2007 the federal government announced $150 million in additional funding for solar technology as part of 2007-08 budget. This additional funding will support a doubling of the current rebate for solar panels on homes. The rebate increases to $8 per Watt up to a maximum of $8000.
Further information on these changes, including how they effect schools and community groups, can be found on the Australian Greenhouse Office website.
Changes to the Photovoltaic Rebate Programme (as announced 8 May 2007)
  • All new homeowner applications received on or after 9 May 2007 will be eligible for the new rebate level of up to $8,000 subject to conditions as described in the current application form and guidelines.
  • System installation should not commence prior to notification of approval.
  • Rebates will not be paid for installations or extensions to systems that have received the previous maximum rebate benefit that applied at the time.
  • Homeowners with applications submitted and/or approved before 9 May 2007, and who wish to review their application, should discuss their options with their installer.
