Jordan Plumbing have recently commissioned a new WRX Wastewater Recycling Plant at Globe Derby which will provide a million litres of recycled water a year to irrigate the grounds of the Riding for the Disabled Horse and Pony Club.This water will enable the groups to accelerate their greening plans and reduce the level of dust at their facilities. Any surplus water will be supplied to Salisbury City Council who provided the land for the facility and funds to allow the clubs to install an irrigation system.
Corporate Citizen Benefits
The need of every corporate organisation to support the reduction in water consumption, the improvement of their environmental performance, the corresponding improvement in their corporate image and reducing operating costs are all key benefits.
Site Location
The site was chosen for its proximity to the Port Wakefield Road offering easy access to the site and where the movement and noise of vehicles to and from the site is not going to be an inconvenience to the public. The site is also in close proximity to several community organisations who will be able to green their site with the supply of recycled water.
* Reduction of wastewater and associated discharge fees,
* Recycling capability which will reduce the volume and cost of water used
* Reduced transportation and pumping costs of waste
Jordan Plumbing carried out the plumbing works for the project which involved installing three interceptor bins in the ground which receive the wastewater from the vacuum trucks and are capable of holding a total of 6,000 litres of wastewater. This water is then pumped to two 20,000 litre dirty water storage tanks.

Treatment
The water is then gravity fed to the wastewater recycling plant. The process can handle waste volumes up to 10,000 litres per hour with solids concentrations ranging from 0.1% to 3% solids. Using revolutionary Tangential Flow management and combining this with the electronically metered addition of base chemicals the units can:
* Treat and neutralise acidic or alkaline waste
* Remove suspended solids
* Reduce organic waste loads (dissolved and undissolved)
* Provide valuable opportunities to recycle water
The water once treated to EPA standards is pumped to two 20,000litre holding tanks and is then drawn off by the equestrian clubs to irrigate their grounds. The separated sludge is treated to EPA standards and deposited in a storage bin and when full the treated sludge is transported to Jeffries for use in their garden products. Provision has been made to expand the facility including adding two additional interception bins and additional water storage tanks. |
